DreamLeague is back for its 8th season but this year the stakes are higher. With the introduction of the new Pro Circuit by Valve earlier this year, the top teams are not only fighting for a prize pool of a million dollars but also 1500 Pro Circuit Points. This Major will have 8 teams fighting in double-elimination best of threes for the elusive first place prize of half a million dollars and 750 DPC. The eight qualified teams fought their way through the regional qualifiers for a chance to win Dream League season 8.
There are four teams who qualified from the Europe and CIS Qualifier; Team Secret, Natus Vincere, Team Liquid and Virtus.pro. Representing the China region is Newbee who beat out LFY twice during the DreamLeague Chinese qualifiers. Fnatic will be representing Southeast Asia after dominating their qualifier’s by beating out both Mineski and TNC Pro Team. Evil Geniuses beat out compLexity during their North America Qualifiers to qualify for the North American spot and Infamous battled hard during their qualifiers to win their spot representing South America.
This is the second Major of the season and with next Major not until mid way through January, teams will be fiercely competing for DPC points to set themselves up for the new year.
Virtus.pro versus Na’Vi
Na’Vi is going to have an uphill battle if they are to outplay the previous ESL One Hamburg Major champions VP. Na’Vi has been on a long road of rebuilding their team to regain their previous status of a TI winning organization. VP has demonstrated unparalleled skill and outstanding drafts over the past couple of months which puts them ahead of Na’Vi.
Our prediction is that VP outplays Na’Vi 2-0.
Team Liquid versus Fnatic
Team Liquid has been really outshining their opponents over the past couple of months. They’ve won two minors and are ranked 3rd overall for Dota Pro Circuit points. In stark contrast to Team Liquid, Fnatic has been very inconsistent to present a real challenge to the reigning TI champions.
Our prediction is the TL beats out Fnatic 2-0.
Team Secret versus EG
DreamLeague has put two teams against each other and will be the closest matchup during the Quarter Finals. These two teams are very evenly paired and both house some amazing stars. These matches are going to come down how well they counter pick during the drafting phase and how well they are able to create opportunities.
Our prediction is EG wins out over Team Secret 2-1
